Tamil Nadu: Two brothers dangle selves from ceiling fan at Kanchi residence | Chennai Information
CHENNAI: Two brothers committed suicide in Kancheepuram on Monday evening.
Police said Vinoth, 23, and Sathish Kumar, 24, were residents of Chettiarpettai in Kancheepuram. While Vinoth ran a repair shop, Sathish dealt with the occasional repair job. Since the lockdown, the two married brothers had little work and stayed indoors.
Police said there were regular arguments at home as the two struggled to cover daily expenses. The two had stopped talking to their neighbors and were depressed, an investigator said.
For the past two months, they have not allowed their relatives to visit them and refused to let their wives out. The two abused their wives and did not let them use the phone. “Whenever someone called, he would pick up the phone and cut the line,” said an investigator.
On Monday night, Vinoth’s wife, Suganya, was feeding her child when she found the brothers locked themselves in a room. When she didn’t respond to a knock on the door, she grew suspicious and peeked through the window to find it hanging on a ceiling fan.
She alerted neighbors who called the Kanchi Taluk police.
The police registered a suicide case and sent the bodies post-mortem to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital. An investigator said the two hanged themselves with saris on the same fan. You didn’t leave a suicide note.
