Peachtree Corners first to put in floor photo voltaic panels on metropolis road

The French-made road surface solar panels are located in a section of Technology Parkway’s autonomous vehicle test track and are provided through a partnership with The Ray, a nonprofit living laboratory and test site located on I-85 between LaGrange and the Georgia / Alabama state line.

The new system will produce more than 1,300 kilowatt hours of electricity annually for a level 2 EV charger in City Hall, which is free for electric vehicle drivers. The charger is also equipped with an energy storage system for night-time charging. In the future, the system could provide power to street lights or other urban infrastructure, including backup for power failures.
