Klein Electricians Pocket Knife (44228)

Let your EDC handle your stripping

Klein is aware that half of you electricians are likely to use your pocket knives as wire strippers anyway. So they designed a knife that actually does the job well. The pocket knife from Klein Electrician takes on the stripping tasks for your common solid and stranded wire sizes, without you running the risk of damaging or cutting them.

The Klein Electrician’s pocket knife has a bearing-supported finger flipper mechanism that allows the knife to be opened with one hand. It has a drop-point stainless steel blade that is good for an all-rounder when it comes to cutting. It can slice, it can pierce, and in a pinch, you can use it for easy spying.

Yes, this wire is stranded, but we also tried it at 12 AWG.

The magic of the Klein 44228, however, is more about its stripping function. With the blade closed, you can easily strip 14-10 AWG solid wire and 16-12 AWG stranded wire with notches on the blade. It even includes a hole at the base of the blade for making quick loops of wire.

Klein Electricians pocket knife

The Klein Electrician’s pocket knife has a stainless steel blade – but unfortunately they don’t disclose what type it is. Given the price and performance, we’d guess something similar to 8Cr13MoV or 4Cr14. The aluminum handle and frame lock provide rigid durability that holds the blade in the open position.

It also features a low-comfort pocket clip to secure the knife in your pocket while maintaining a low profile. A large holding hole is helpful for attaching the knife to a lanyard. This is especially useful when working from a height.

Price and availability

Getting the Klein Electrician pocket knife should be pretty easy, as you can find Klein Tools at pretty much any online or B&M tool store. It costs $ 19.97.
