Firefighters tackle attic blaze in Beeston as four people escape

The fire broke out in the attic. The video posted online showed large flames leaking upstairs in the building.

Just before 2:30 a.m., firefighters were called to Westbourne Street.

The property consisted of four apartments and all of the people inside had made their way outside.

There were no injuries to anyone.

Two fire engines from Hunslet, one from Leeds, and the aerial ladder platform were called to the scene.

Four firefighters put out the fire with two pumps and a fan.

Smoke alarms were installed inside, but they were not triggered.

A specialized fire investigator is on site to find out what caused the fire.
