Fire in Beeston attic flat

Firefighters visited a house on Westbourne Street in Beeston in the early hours of the morning (May 7, 2021) after receiving reports of flames coming from the roof.

The fire was in the attic of the row house that was being converted into four apartments. All inmates were considered and there were no injuries to anyone.

Three fire engines were present, two from Hunslet and one from Leeds (Kirkstall Road) as well as the Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) from Leeds with its support pump. Four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a positive pressure fan were used to extinguish the fire.

Smoke alarms were built into the property but not activated. A specialized fire investigator is on site to determine the cause of the fire.
